There was a topic about this earlier, but I deleted it, because well...There was a lot going on there, and it was mainly links where you could buy them and the links were void anyway, so I'm restarting the topic:

The original books are:
1: The Devil's Doorbell
2: The night of the Scorpion
3: The Silver Citadel
4: Day of the Dragon

The first two and the changes made in it are very openly discussed in the new power of 5 forum

Personally I didn't think antyhing wrong with these, so I don't really know why they had to be rewritten, but I heard that the way they were written some things didn't add up anymore for the way he wanted to end things...

Still I like this series.  After Groosham Grange it's my favourite AH series, so I'm actually quite upset that they'er out of print now...

Everything good goes out of print, it's not fair, it happens before I get to read them!!!

at least these are being rewritten...I think it's far worse that the robin hood and william tell books he did went out of print, and were lost, cause those were good...

anyways...i discovered something fun(at elast fun for me)

According to the version of the Devil's Doorbell that i got from a friend, the original was published in 1983.  i checked on fantastic fiction and they confirmed that.  the power of 5 (original) is my favourite after Groosham Grange....and i was born in 1983 Smiley  So I'm as old as the original Power of 5 series Smiley  quite happy with that little bit of knowledge actually hehe

I would love to have been able to read the original series, if only to compare =)

Groosham grange was the first ever AH book I had ever read, I was so glad to find it at my local library on sale at *embarrassed* $1, it was the only one in our area. I couldn't believe it!! I ran and grabbed it Cheesy the lady thought I was nuts, but I love that book so much afro

I think that's out of print too?

I can't find it any bookstore around here...

Though, I'm hoping that seeing as AH is coming to Dymocks, to impress him they'll stock all his available books... I'll nab one then Cheesy

I can't remember if I've asked this before, but are they better, you think, than the newer ones?

well the new ones are fleshed out more...there's more detail...but up until now, the new ones aren't better at all.  there are thigns that were really good in the original ones that was left out in the new ones...like the church thing in the first one and pedro's monkey in the second, but then the new ones have stuff that wasn't in the old ones...

p[ersonally i think it's hard to say which version is better...and up to now i don't see the point in rewriting.  However, if the rumours are true then there'll be more changes in this next book and even more in the fourth, so I'll have to wait and see.  When they're all published then I'll let you know whether it's better or not hehe

I've read te first three of the old ones. When Nightrise comes out, I think I will be able to judge because I've read the same numbre of books in each series.
