It's the name of the airport

Which means that it actually does stand for John F Kennedy, because it's the John F Kennedy airport Wink

Anyways, now that all 4 rewrites are out, I suppose it's time for the judgement.  I've always refrained from saying which was best, because i wanted to read all the rewrites before saying something about it.  Now that I have I can honestly say:  The one isn't better than the other.

The new ones are more fleshed out, there is more detail, yes that's true.  But in the original there was more horror, and it was scarier.  In this version everything, or at least almost everything, is explained, things that were left to the reader's imagination originally are provided.  I suppose this can be seen as a good thing for some, but for me...personally i didn't need it.  i didn't mind having to fill in the blanks myself.
The original was also more in the AH style that i got to like him with.  I've already mentioned on this board that I prefer his older work, since it's more gruesome and humorous, and this series, comparing the original to the rewrites, really shows it off.  His sense of mystery and detail and description has evolved and in a way became better, but his choices of events and characters are safer than they were before.

Even though I read the rewrites with as much enthusiasm as I read the original, I still don't think a rewrite was absolutely necessary.  I was told that it was necessary because things didn't add up any more, and he couldn't give it the finish he wanted the way it was, but nothing fundamental has been changed.

The older ones are more original in their ideas and villains, the newer ones have better style.  I guess if I really had to choose, I'd still go for the old ones, because of the gruesomeness of them.  But I'm not so opposed to the rewrites as I was when I first found out about them

i think the newer ones are better, with more horror. but i havent yet read day of the dragon so maybe that has more...
and i have always read AH's modern stuff, only recently have i read the pentagram.
and i think now the villains are better, although Mrs Crow was quite funny....

Well, I haven't read them myself, but the I know there are definite similarities. I'm not sure whether the names have changed but the characters are mostly the same ... and so are the plots ... on the other hand, they were unfinished, so we'll never know.

That's as much as I can tell you cheesy Welcome to the board!

Well, as far as the first second and third are concerned, they are pretty similar. The general plot is roughly the same, just the characters are different... like Deverill, I forget if her name changes, but she's a relative (maybe not in blood) and gets Martin (Matt) as soon as his folks die when he's 13... and she's pretty different. And Don White (forget if the name has changed again) is Jeremy and Nicholas's (Scott and Jamie's) uncle or far away relative, and he's a retired boxer and only in it for the money. Pedro is still Pedro, only he can speak English and has a monkey. The plots are pretty similar, though.
