Jamie was only unconscious for a couple of days...

What if one of them dies just before the final battle? And maybe sapling only told matt...

Again, after a healthy absence, i'm back (:
I think Jamie will die. Think about it, scott has looked after jamie all his life, and now J is in control. I think he will relish at the chance to finally be able to prove himself and to help his twin when he is in need. I'm a twin myself and it's a closer bond than brother and sister.
Who ever dies, it's sure to be an emotional ride!

jamie can't die because there would not be any one to take his place...think about it if any one were to die it is obvious it will either be scott (because sapling died in the past) or scar (because of the head wound and the fact that her and jamie have a connection to each other sorta...)

I think that if Jamie dies, Sapling will take his place before Sapling dies in the past. Confusing.

Good theory about Jamie... we have thought of that. But then I think, wouldn't Past!Gatekeepers have mentioned that to Jamie? Confusing.
As for speculation... I think it said that he was with Matt as a "companion" so he'll end up wherever Matt goes. He's alive though, I'm pretty sure of that.

The past gatekeepers would not have told Jamie that he was going to die...especially not Past Matt...

I do not think that Jamie will die tho...but it is possible for him to die.

Any of the 5 could die...

Perhaps Sapling travelled to the future after he left the other gatekeepers to die. That would explain why they never told Jamie, but Sapling isn't able to stay in the future for a long time, so it really doesn't make sense.

how come everybody is assuming that there has only been two sets of five.  old matt did say that time is a circle, so who is to say that there hasnt been another set of five that could replace present jamie.

The only answer i can think of for that is that matt said in the past was that the only way to kill the five is to kill them twice, not three or more times.  But i suppose it is possible. 

Maybe they all die in the final battle and the world is lost to the old ones and that is why there is no third or more power of five.  But that would make my heart cry.

We don't know yet, if it was known then it'd probabaly be on the Anthony Horowitz homepage, or he'd have announced it in news.

I have to say that i agree with abandnat. i have thought this for a while because as you said time is a circle.
and another thing that could happen again because of the circling time thing  is that the old ones find a way to pass through and therefore like 'the 5' they too could become invincible, i don't know if AH would do this making both good and evil sides last for eternity but it would make a pretty good read

Richard Cole dies. He was the person who was dragged into it all. I also think that Scott betraying them is too obvious.

AH will make it really, really unpredictable. So all this speculation though is false. AH could add loads more secrets or anything, effectively destroying the entire storyline.

One thing that most people can agree on: it'll be the biggest book he's ever written, twistier than a snake, and containing as much secrets, revelations and showdowns as the final Harry Potter.
