The U.K.’s Eleventh Hour Films is developing a U.S. version of its drama “Collision” for NBC in partnership with TriStar Television.

The NBC version will be showrun by its original creator, Anthony Horowitz (“Foyle’s War,” “New Blood”), partnering with “CSI” exec producer Carol Mendelsohn and Julie Weitz for Carol Mendelsohn Productions.

Horowitz is writing the first two episodes of a proposed 10 episode order for NBC, and — if greenlit — the show will go straight to series.

The U.K. version of “Collision,” which was created by Horowitz and directed by Marc Evans, scored an overnight audience of 7 million when it first aired on ITV in 2009. The drama, which was stripped across five consecutive nights, tells the story of a group of strangers whose lives are changed forever following a major road accident. When the police start to investigate, they find themselves drawn into a dangerous world that includes government cover-ups, smuggling, torn relationships and murder.

Eleventh Hour’s founder and managing director, Jill Green, will be a producer on the U.S. series, with Suzanne Patmore Gibbs representing TriStar, and Quinn Taylor acting as NBC’s executive VP.

“We are delighted to be working on a ‘local’ version for NBC as it was always Anthony and my dream that the drama should exist on a larger scale and as a longer-length series,” Green said. “This is a country where it is routine to use your car to get everywhere — and never give it a second thought. The drama has universal, relatable characters and fuses together multiple genres.”
