A new BBC1 crime drama from Foyle’s War creator Anthony Horowitz has a pair of sparkling leads, RadioTimes.com can reveal.
Mark Addy and Anna Chancellor have been cast alongside Mark Bonnar and Kimberley Nixon in New Blood, a London-based investigative saga that "will show a unique side of modern London through the eyes of two outsiders," according to the BBC.
Atlantis and Game of Thrones star Addy will play the “rough and cynical” DS Derek Sands, an experienced police detective embittered by the success of younger and more ambitious officers. In particular he causes problems for Rash (Ben Tavassoli) who’s trying to learn from him.
Anna Chancellor – known to many as Four Weddings and a Funeral's Duck Face, amongst other roles – plays Eleanor Davies, the “tough and pragmatic” director of the Serious Fraud Office.
Other cast members include Ariyon Bakare (Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, Dancing on the Edge), Aiysha Hart (Atlantis, Honour) and Dorian Lough (Peaky Blinders, The Smoke).
Addy said: "There’s nothing better than an Anthony Horowitz crime story, and New Blood had me hooked from the first read of the script. I’m looking forward to playing the rough and cynical character of Derek Sands."

Created and written by Horowitz and produced by Eleventh Hour Films (Safe House, Foyle's War, Vexed), New Blood is a seven-part drama series directed by Anthony Philipson (Cuffs, Our Girl and 24 Hours In A&E).
